How to use this chart

Fewer habits win.

Three habits followed every day beat a long list. Circle three and ignore the rest for January.

Make the goal theirs.

A new book series, gear for a new sport, a day out of their choice. If they chose it, they’ll chase it.

Review on the last Sunday.

Look back at the month together, celebrate the goal, and pick February’s.

Screens are a common January goal.

If phones are the battle, see our screen time rules for teens for ideas that stick.

Rather not tape paper to the fridge?

Compass is the app version of this chart. Kids check their own days on their phone, a parent approves with a tap, and the jar fills toward the goal. Every habit and point value is editable. 14 days free, then $4.99/month for the whole family.
